Expansion of pig division!
Construction has begun in Pusztaföldvár and Telekgerendás.
Construction of the 2 new sites in Hungary has started. A ceremony of landbreaking was held in Pusztaföldvár where a time capsule was lowered which contained the FirstFarms DNA. The time capsule and foundation stone were placed by FirstFarms' Group CEO Anders H. Norgaard, our local managing director Sarusi-Kis Tamás and Erdős Norbert, State Secretary of Agriculture Minister.
An investment with a budget of HUF 8 billion started with nearly 2.5 billion state subsidies in Telekgerendás and Pusztaföldvár, which will create 20-30 new jobs in the area, while playing an important role in the Hungarian pig strategy objectives from 2012. The investment will increase the Hungarian sow population by 2,000 sows, the location of the farm is Telekgerendás, and its breeds will be sold as piglets from the Puszföldföldvár pig farm. With the two new farms, FirstFarms Hungary Kft. will expand into a company with 4,500 sow places. Construction is expected to be completed in the spring of 2023.
A farrowing unit with a capacity of 2,000 sows will be built in Telekgerendás, and in Pusztaföldvár there will be nursing farm, as well as a quarantine stable and unit for our gilts. The buildings will be equipped with innovative technology, automated systems and serious infrastructure with focus on environment friendliness and sustainability. One of the important pillars of the investment is renewable energy. Power is provided by solar panels, while the optimal temperature is provided by innovative heating pump technology utilising slurry.
In addition to job creation, it is in common interest that the company envisions operating in cooperation with local businesses, and continues to see long-term sustainability as a customer contract with businesses affiliated with municipalities.
